Group Health Service of Oklahoma, Inc., is a mutual corporation doing business as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma for more than 60 years. As the states oldest and largest private health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma provides benefit plans for nearly 770,000 Oklahomans.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma is an independent, not-for-profit corporation. The organization is managed and controlled by a board of directors comprised of Oklahoma business leaders and health care providers. Its major offices are in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma is a member of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an association of 42 independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. Each Plan is an independent corporation committed to providing affordable health insurance.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association is a trade organization that administers the licensing program for the use of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield symbols. The Association also administers certain national standards and regulations.
